After trying on only four dresses I had made my choice, and everyone was shocked. The owner, Julia, worked with my budged and made the dress of my dreams within reach. As soon as my best friend pulled it from the rack and I put it on I knew I wanted to get married in it. I am well known for my indecisiveness, but went into Andrea’s Bridal with a good idea of what I wanted. I didn’t realize…that picking out my dress would be so easy. I think that one of the hard things about getting married at home and doing so much myself was that there was always one more thing that I could do. I wish…that I had stopped decorating and started getting ready sooner. We asked the bride more about the big day. “It is a beautiful place that holds so many wonderful memories from my childhood, our engagement, and now our wedding,” she says. Katie had always dreamed about getting married at her parent’s house, so that’s exactly what she did. After dancing to their favorite song, he got down on one knee to propose. He suggested that we go to my parent’s house because my dad had told him that he hadn’t seen me much that week. “Any hopes of a proposal died when Matt said no. “It was a wonderful evening, and I suggested we continue by grabbing dessert at our favorite gelato place,” Katie says. ![]() Throughout the night, Katie’s hopes and suspicions of a proposal rose and fell. The night of the proposal, Matt took Katie on a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride and candlelit dinner in Freeport, where the couple had gone on their first dinner date. “Fishing led to more fishing, then sunset campfires, which led to dinner, and more fishing,” Katie says. ![]() The following spring, Katie headed to camp to lead a whitewater rafting trip. The second summer, Matt liked Katie-but she was seeing another guy. The first summer they worked together, Katie had a crush on Matt-but he liked another girl. Matt and Katie met while working at Moose River Outpost, a Christian outdoor adventure camp located in northern Maine. Matt, who was born and raised in Minnesota, moved to Maine in 2012 in pursuit of a girl.
